Nitriding treatment is a treatment to penetrate and diffuse nitrogen on the steel surface, however at the same time, because a high level of hardness can be created, this treatment is conducted at a low temperature at approximately 550° over a particularly long period of time. Also, the soft nitriding treatment mixes a small amount of gas for carbonization into the gas for nitriding, penetrating and diffusing the nitrogen and carbon on the material surface and forms a hard layer on the outermost surface. Using this hardened layer tries to improve the abrasion resistance.
